extra credit Train story

1. Explain what happened to the man that was killed by the subway and how the photographer was able to take the photo.

2. The photographer said he took the photo because he thought the flash from the camera would catch the train conductors attention.

3. I honestly don't know what to think because sure its an amazing photo but its such a horrible sight to see. I would feel horrible if i took that photo and couldn't help the person  out because its basically taunting them.

4. I believe the photographer did the best he could do only because he tried to help with the flash. we honestly don't know the situation, all we know is that trains are lightning fast and it would be hard to save a person on their death bed.

5. i Dont agree that they ran the photo in the newspaper because it is very offensive to the family of both people the photographer and most importantly the man on the tracks. I would not want to see a family member in a photo about to be killed.

6. For a journalist i would think capturing things in the moment would be more important but on the other hand preventing the worst from happening would make a person feel better rather than taking a photo of a horrible action. later on in life they'll have that photo but they'll have to live with seeing the image in real life thinking of ways on how they could have prevented it.

7. I don't think the photographer should get involved with a photo they've taken because then i gets too personal. all they're there for is to take the photo and possibly publish it.

8. no. when 9-11 happened many photos were taken and are remember today. its not anyones fault that the photos were taken because most times when people take photos its because they want to remember it.

9. It wasn't his fault he couldn't help the man thrown in his death. The photographer tried to help by turning on his flash to try to get the conductors attention and there was nothing that could be done in such a short time.

final exam part 3

This photo is rule of thirds. This is because it includes a main subject which is the soldier. The back is blurred out which helps you focus on the man and shows you what the subject is. The background doesn't do much but it doesn't take anything away for the soldier. It helps the viewer see the expression the man is holding and it makes you feel like your seeing him in real life.

This photo above would be considered framing because the two sides of grass is  very powerful compared to the girl walking down the path. The picture is full of green and then out of no where there is a woman in the middle and it helps you see her better.

This photo is rule of thirds because the person is to the side of the photo. The rain is just adding to the background but you can clearly see the person on the left. The person is filled in black so it helps you focus on her. The bright light also helps you see that the girl is the main focus but its yet not it the middle of literally highlighted.
This photo is leading lines because the two rows of people are on either side of the dog which creates the allusion that the dog is going down a path of people. The two sides that the dog is running by shows that its running down a path or leading lines because its going somewhere.

final exam part 2

In omaha Nebraska the annual fire throwing contest took place celebrating its 25th year. When the festivities began it immediately got out of hand quickly. This young man in the photo above, greg oconnel, was a fire victim. The throwing of fire went horribly wrong and Oconnel was immediately rushed to the hospital with 3rd degree burns.

President henry and Georgia lane were seen discussing their plans of the future. The first thing they did was talk about how they could make the USA a better place. when henry finally broke the news that he would no longer be in office lane didn't have good things to say and it quickly got heated.

Tuesday december 26th Jonathan rain was found dead in a deserted area. Detectives predict that rain had been dead for at least a week. The body was very cold and looked to be eaten by small animals. His face was covered in bullet holes and was demutilated. The search has begun for rains murder.

Self Portrait and Portraits

tip one: Try Standing By a Corner

One trick is to stand next to the end of a wall or at a corner. This way you can position yourself even with the wall and achieve a solid focus. So if you focus on the wall, then stand next to rather than in front of it, your focus should be much better.
tip two: lighting
a single flash can do wonders for your portraits. Photography is about capturing light. You don’t need to buy a flash. You can pick up a small but powerful work light.
 casual photo 1
I picked this photo because its so romantic yet so typical and sweet. The background is simple and the couple is the main focus.
casual photo 2
I chose this photo because the photo is not as much focused on the apple as it is on the girl. I like it because its very simple yet meaningful.

 environmental photo 1
This photo is so pretty the background is so breath taking and the family of 4 makes the picture even better
 enviornmental photo 2
The back ground is magnificent and with the man sitting on the mountain is really making a statement. Its full of pretty blues which was what caught my eye at first.
 Formal photo 1
This picture is so pretty i love black and white and they're vintage looking which i love
 Formal photo 2
This black and white picture of this girl is so pretty. The background is blurred out and all you attention is on her.
 self portrait 1
This is also black and white which i love i really has a meaning even though its just a girl it has so much more meaning.
self portrait 2
This is a photo that really says something. This girl is all cut up in the water and yet she looks as if she's okay. Her face tells a whole story.

iso

ISO

1. the advantages of shooting with a higher ISO setting is that there is a clearer image and it can focus on the main object that you're taking the picture of.

2.The suggestions that the author made about using a low ISO is that  you should always try to stick to the lowest ISO  of your camera, whenever possible. When there is plenty of light, you should always use the lowest ISO, to retain the most detail and to have the highest image quality. There are some cases where you might want to use low ISO in dim or dark environments

3. The suggestions that the author made about using a high ISO is You should increase the ISO when there is not enough light for the camera to be able to quickly capture an image.

This is a picture of a toy dog and it was taken with iso 200.

three pillars of exposure

Aperture

1. Aperture is often compared to the iris of the eye.
2. The smaller the aperture the greater the depth, the higher the aperture the smaller the depth.
3. Aperture impacts depth of field by making the main subject sharp and the background blurry during a large f-stop and the opposite during a small f-stop.

Shutter Speed

At the beginning while the sun is still partially up and the courtyard has reasonable light:
a.) the dunking booth- High Shutter Speed
b.) the food eating contest- High Shutter Speed
c.) the rock climbing wall- High Shutter Speed
d.) someone working at a booth- Slow Shutter Speed
e.) the DJ/MC working at the middle of the circle- Slow Shutter Speed
f.) the Diamonds performance- High Shutter Speed

Towards the end when there is no sun and has gotten dark enough that you can't see from one end of the courtyard to the other.
a.) The dunking booth - High Shutter Speed
b.) The food eating contest - Slow Shutter Speed
c.) The rock climbing wall - Slow Shutter Speed
d.) Someone working at a booth - Slow Shutter Speed
e.) The DJ/MC working at the middle of the circle - Slow Shutter Speed
f.) The Diamonds performance - High Shutter Speed

Auto - The camera selects what the shutter speed will be depending on it's surroundings.
Aperture Priority - You can change the aperature manualy but the camera changes the shutter speed Automatic Manual - You can change both aperature and shutter speed by hand

Image taken at ISO 200

Image taken at ISO 3200

1.It will be easier to capture the moving objects of the players in action.
2. If you have your camera mounted on a tripod or sitting on a flat surface. Your camera will most likely need more time to capture the scene and anything that is moving is probably going to look like a ghost.
3. To set my ISO to a higher number to be able to freeze motion

F4 - 1/250:  The background is blurry
F5.6 - 1/60:  The background is less blurry
F8 - 1/60:  The background is less blurry
F11- 1/60:  The background is more clear
F16- 1/30:  It's the same the background
F22 - 1/8: When the background is more clear and blurry.

At slow shutter speed people are blurry.
A higher shutter speed will solve the problem.
The lowest shutter speed is 1/40.

Black and White photos part 3

Photo 1

I see a girl laying on a bed of sheets. Gazing off into the light. Her legs glow as she lays there alone.
I smell the strong perfume taking over the room. The sheets linger with sweat and tears. I smell the bittersweet smell of love.
I hear the sheets rustle as the fan blows hard. The crickets chirp in the background and create a harmony. The
I taste the lipstick on her lips. The flavor of the perfume sticks to my tongue.
I feel the cold breeze on her stomach. The soft silky sheets touch my rough skin.

Photo 2

I see a sad woman laying to her sorrow. The dim light stall in silence. The lamp lights flicker.
The scent of a cigarette takes over the room. An incenses burns and masks the smell. The musty smell of cologne from the man who was previously here marks the room.
I hear the telephone ring over and over. A continuous bang coming from the front door. The neighbors argue over something so little that is clearly heard.
I taste the stale air. The slightest taste of wine still on my tongue. I already taste the rejection that is coming towards me.
I feel the bitterness of being alone. The beat of the woman's heart is racing and she passes it on to me. I feel the depression overpowering the lonesome room.

Africa photo power point

This photo is of a giraffe with a pretty tree. I really like it because it shows that the tree is light and the contrast sticks out a lot. I'm not sure what kind of camera he used but its obviously a good one. The kind of photo the photographer was trying to take was kind of a capture the moment thing.

academics photo shoot preview

The best story

this photo shows that its not impossible to be who you are and live in a different county. It is really brave to stand in front of a different flag and she's proud.

Best frame filling photo

This photo fills the frame the best. All the people are leaning to the left and are filling the frame.

The best story

I assume its homecoming and these girls are extremely excited. This is the best story picture because it shows how happy they are and it shows their emotions perfectly.
